Melodrama

A Brief History And Conventions










The Old Parent
She is the old parent because she rich so she is trying to take her money from the ground after it has fallen. She is also has a blanket in her back because she is feels cold because of the sickness that is due to her age.Also she looks like the old parent because of her costume. 


The Maiden
She is the maiden because of the costume and because she is sad, and looks innocent. She also looks like she is saying "why are you so evil." to the villian.

The Hero
she looks like the hero because of her costume and also because she looks like she is going to save the day and the maiden. Also because of the way she posed to the camera.

State of Inquiry: A hero saves the day in melodrama to ensure that justice and peace will overrule the destoying plans of evildoers. 
Inquiry Questions: 
Conceptual: Will the hero always destroy the evil plans of the villian to safe the day?
Will Melodrama always have a happy ending?
Debatable: Must all stories have a happy ending?
Will good always win against evil? 
How can the world become a better and more peaceful environment for all?

The villian: cloak, evil, sly, main pulative, often 'wrongs' the maiden
The maiden: ladylike, innocent, demure, brave, victim of the villian
The hero: brave, courageous, handsome, romantic, strong, rescues the maiden, saves the day
The aged parents: old, protective, feeble, kind-hearted, rich
The fool or the lovable rouge: scruffy, lovable, energetic, clumsy, friendly, can accidentally 'save the day'
The henchmen: evil, strong, stupid, obediant, the villian's sidekick, does the villian's dirty work
